TMAC
IS A COUNCIL of the eight Transportation Management Associations (TMAs) in New Jersey. TMAs are non-profit, public/private partnerships that have been established to develop traffic congestion and transportation-related air quality solutions in our communities. Typical TMA activities range from providing information on available transportation alternatives, working with employers to solve employee commute issues, to taking an active role in site design elements that can effectively impact travel demand.
TMAs: (1) Give the business and local government communities a voice in local/regional/statewide transportation decision making (2) Provide ridesharing and transit services (3) Serve as a forum for public/private consultants on issues of transportation planning, and the implementation of alternatives to the SOV (Single Occupant Vehicle)
TMAs have been active participants with government, including New Jersey's three Metropolitan Planning Organizations (MPOs), on discussions as varied as establishing highway funding priorities, restructuring public transit routes, improving public transit service, minimizing the disruption caused by road construction, and instituting traffic management strategies to alleviate traffic congestion. |
